Another Republic Is Born

July 16th, in Editor's Note, Features by JR Isaac, 4 Comments

A new door was opened last night at Eastwood City Walk. From its flagship store in La Fuerza Plaza- Makati, Republ1c has reached out in the north with their newest branch. This two-storey store reflects the interesting street lifestyle and fashion in the city. Urban dwellers can freely express their identity with its diversity of designs. A haven for skaters and wake boarders with its array of funky brands that are inspired from LA and New York, Republ1c is a multi-experiential scene for both boys and girls.

Seen in the shelves are well-picked brands and pieces that give the liberty to mix trendy and comfort feel. Graphic tee, tapered jeans, hoodies, caps and skate shoes are visual delights to match eye-catching board designs mounted on the walls. The arresting uniqueness and color of headphones is attention grabbing that’ll surely elevate your listening pleasure.

The Chabet Archive: A Conversation

July 14th, in Events, Workshop by Apryl Galang

Asia Art Archive (AAA) and the Lopez Memorial Museum are pleased to announce The Chabet Archive, a milestone research and digitization project focusing on the work of The Philippines’ foremost conceptual artist, Roberto Chabet. One of the most influential artists of his generation and a key figure in Philippine contemporary art, Chabet’s work questions fixed notions about art, meaning and modernity. The research is the point of entry into the understanding of Chabet’s vision of art and his impact on the development of the art scene in the Philippines.

The Chabet Archive consists of thousands of documents including unpublished photographs, notes, sketches, letters, invitations, and press clippings, covering the artist’s work from the 1960s to the present day. Aside from his own exhibitions, the Archive also includes documentation of exhibitions he curated and works of other artists close to him. It provides an unprecedented account of his artistic process, the vision that he espoused, and the generations of artists whom he mentored at the University of The Philippines College of Fine Arts.
