Workshop Graduation + ufo Sightings: Cinema Knights

Time to honor the workshop graduates at the Asia Pacific Film Institute on July 31! Their works will be screened (film) and performed (acting) from 4-6PM at the screening room/theater. Certificates will be awarded at 6-6:30PM, followed by potluck cocktails at 7PM.

Short films and trailers will start screening at 8PM, featuring the work of JP Carpio, Emman dela Cruz, Jay Ignacio, Lem Garcellano, Edber Mamisao, Jewel Maranan, Dante Perez, Paul Soriano and selected APFI students.

Engkwentro

PLDT myDSL Watchpad myFlicks presents the award-winning film, Engkwentro to be shown on December 11, 12 & 13 at SM Cinemas in Mall of Asia, North Edsa, Megamall, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Bacoor!

Inspired by true events, Engkwentro follows the last 24 hours of two teenage brothers on opposite sides of a gang war. With a career-making performance by young heartthrob Felix Roco and directed by 22-year-old Pepe Diokno, the film took home two awards at September’s Venice Film Festival — including the Horizons Prize for new trends in cinema, and the US$ 100,000 Lion of the Future Award for best debut film.

Engkwentro Screening

For the first time since its double victory at the 66th Venice Film Festival, 22-year-old director Pepe Diokno’s “Engkwentro” will be screened in the Philippines! This will be held on Wednesday, October 21, at 7PM at Market! Market!, Bonifacio Global City. Profits will be used to help the survivors of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.

Just last month, “Engkwentro” took home the prestigious Venice Film Festival’s Lion of the Future – “Luigi de Laurentiis” Award for Debut Film, as well as the top prize in the Horizons section for new trends in cinema. These awards were conferred by two separate international juries, who both unanimously cited the film for its bravery, novel storytelling, and technical achievement.

Inspired by true events, “Engkwentro” tells the story of two teenage brothers on opposite sides of a gang war. In order to save their lives, they must break away from the cycle of violence while running away from the city’s omnipresent Mayor and his murderous vigilantes.
