Daily Grind Sessions 5
February 11th, in Dance/Parties, Events by Andrea Torres
The past two years have seen Daily Grind Sessions become the legit (and notorious) party promoting streetwear and the youth subculture through art and music. Lots of music.
Daily Grind is the clothing brand established by Team Manila a few years ago for the ever-growing streetwear scene.
For Daily Grind Sessions’ 5th installment, it’s all about contrast. A gathering for skaters, longboard junkies and lomo shutterbugs through several exhibits and previews:
- Longboard culture photo exhibit by Brendan Goco
- Local skate culture video by Video Jockey Jay de Leon of Bomb Proof
- Fluidsurf’s longboard preview
- Launch of the pink fisheye lomo camera and Things You Love exhibit
See you there on Feb 12, 2010 at the Team Manila Jupiter Store. Music by DJ Switch Trick, DJ Arbie Won and Team Manila.
All made possible by our cool sponsors - Tribu Outdoors, Locked Down Productions, Fluidsurf, Bomb Proof, and Lomographic Embassy Manila.

Focus on the Arts: Collections Series- Art Manila
September 1st, in Events, Exhibit by Apryl Galang
Hinahanap-hanap kita, Manila. Admit it – there’s nothing closer to our hearts than home. For the 3rd leg of Powerplant’s Focus on the Arts: Collections Series, the Filipino’s love for art and home will be pushed to the fore, with this leg of the FOCUS will be geared towards one of the highest forms of human expression, with a special premium on the sights and sounds of life in Manila.
Purveyors of both the old and new schools of art will be convening at the Power Plant Mall until September 6 to celebrate Manila in the best way they know how. Here’s what you should be looking out for:
Manila Defined: Jeepney Art–What better object to identify with the hustle and bustle of the metro than the iconic hunk of metal we all love to hate – the jeepney. What’s more, who better to put a twist on this icon than the leading name in our country’s pop-art royalty?
Francisco Motors Corporation, the company behind the legend of the Philippine Jeepney, will be teaming up with nationalistic pop-art…
The Lomographic Society Presents: The Diana Mini
August 24th, in Features by Andrea Torres, 2 CommentsThe Lomographic Society brings the magic of half-frame photography back to life with the delightful Diana Mini. The newest member of the Diana+ family is just as beautiful and retro as the renowned and beloved Diana F+ but smaller, lighter and with some truly unique characteristics compared to its older sibling.
Check out the features of the awesome Diana Mini:
* More than just the petite sister
The Diana Mini is remarkably reminiscent of the Diana F+ family, due to its retro body and unmistakable turquoise top. Weighing in at only 235g (about half a pound), it is adorably petite in comparison. The “Mini” moniker only describes its size, not its unrivalled possibilities.
* Two frame format
Change the frame mode on the Diana Mini with just a fingertip without changing camera or film.
* Exclusive 35mm square format
The 35 mm square format is neat, proper, clean, classy, and very rare! The rectangular format, called half-frame, seems to make a roll of 35 mm film last forever and surprises everyone when the first photos are in hand.
* Legendary half
This resurrected rectangular format…
VS2: Design Changes
August 10th, in Events, Exhibit by Apryl Galang
Three years after the seminal Project Versus graphic design exhibition, 19 Pinoy design studios—from industry stalwarts to envelope-pushing youngbloods, come together for Versus 2 this 2009. Inspired by legendary designer, Milton Glaser’s Designism movement, Versus 2 is a charity exhibit benefiting two fledgling NGOs that champion the arts: The Farm Projects and Outlook Pointe Foundation OPF. Furthering the social thrust of the exhibition, the various artworks will revolve around the eight life-changing Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations.
The VS2 artists participating in this meaningful exhibition are 27+20, AcidHouse, Collision Theory, CSJ, Darkbulb, Drew Europeo, Electrolychee, EveryWhereWeShoot, Ge Mapa, KyleProjects, Inodoro, Mike Sicam, Robert Alejandro, Springboard, Studio Dialogo, Team Manila, Twisted Fork, Vgrafiks. VS2: Design Changes will prove two things: that graphic design is an ever-evolving art form, and that—as an engine of modern communication, it is an excellent platform for social change.
Opening on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Alliance Française de Manille’s Gallery. Cocktails will be served at the artists’ reception at 6:30 pm. The exhibit will run until September 4. For more…
Team Manila joins Yahoo!’s Project Purple
July 8th, in Features by Andrea Torres
As a continuation of Project Purple, Yahoo! announced that Team Manila has joined the social movement by creating two exclusive limited edition T-shirts which harness its inspiration from Filipino heritage and the young-Pinoy’s penchant for the internet.
“Yahoo! has been rallying Pinoys to be proud of their National heritage and utilize the internet to aim higher,” said Jojo Anonuevo, general manager, Yahoo! Philippines. “On behalf of the members of this massive social movement, Yahoo! is proud to welcome Team Manila to Project Purple with these T-shirts that reflect the modern day Pinoy,” Anonuevo added.
Team Manila’s designs were influenced by famous characters from Jose Rizal’s novel “Noli Me Tangere” and common colloquialisms by modern Pinoys. Both t-shirts will be available at PHP 550 at Team Manila’s retail stores at the Arecheology wing, 2nd Floor Rockwell, 2nd Floor Mall of Asia, Jupiter store in Bel-Air Makati, and soon at the 3rd Floor in Trinoma.

All For The Love of Lomography
June 1st, in Features by Andrea Torres
Photography is a magical media in which photographers can express their marvelous experience to everyone. Apart from enjoying fun from analogue photography, Lomographers also record every smiley face in their colorful daily life. “Shoot from waist level” is the motto of the supreme camera — Lubitel 166+, which is an expert camera to take portraits.
During April to June, a group exhibition called “Asian Lomography Faces” will be held in the Lomography embassies in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. A series of photographs were taken by the Lomography Embassies in the Asia Pacific region, to share their vision of their Lomography teammates, friends and true Lomographers.
Lomographic Society Asia
From 2002 to 2007, from upstairs to downstairs, from office to shop plus gallery complex store, Lomographic Society Asia was established in Hong Kong, and is now on its 7th year. Since then, they never stopped snapping and enjoying the lift full of brilliant images. In 2002, they set up a small office on the 2nd floor of an old Chinese building in Central Hong Kong,…
Live and Respect
May 31st, in Editor's Note by Jan Raymond ConaderaCircuit celebrates the individual. We create our uniqueness as a result of life’s challenges. Though, we might have similar experiences as others, we all react differently and ultimately develop different points of view. These results define us, who we are now and what we value. Some might disapprove of our choices, but this doesn’t mean we are less of a person. We take responsibility for our own actions.
As our nation commemorates freedom from our colonizers, we came up with the Individuality issue in our Circuit Breaker section. Our Circadian section re-routes diners to two new restaurants both with distinct Asian tastes and stress-free locations.
Lastly, our team commends the bravery of our cover model Katrina Halili, in full battle gear and ready to take responsibility for her actions.
