Official Statement from Quezon City Pride Council:
“In conjunction with the national call in aid for the typhoon victims of the Visayas Region, the Quezon City Government is canceling all celebrations which includes the World Pride Parade on December 7, 2013 and hereby re-align its budget allocation to help the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
We apologize deeply to the entire LGBT community and our allies for a short notice and appeal to the entire community to join us in alleviating the needs of our affected countrymen.
Our fund raising efforts, however, is still in motion to help raise funds through the InQCity Independent Pride Film Festival happening on December 4 to December 10, 2013 at Trinoma Mall, North Avenue, Quezon.
We would like to thank our allies and the entire LGBT community for the overwhelming support and assistance. Quezon City Pride Council is forever thankful for the generosity of our international counterparts and LGBT Organizations here and abroad for the support and help you have extended to us.
We firmly believe that together we can help bring back the rainbow to these devastated areas and bring hope to places affected by Typhoon Yolanda…”
