Repertory Philippines opens 2010 Season

Repertory’s new Season starts off with the Philippine premiere of Peter Quilter’s new romantic comedy, Duets.  Set in glorious comedy, the play explores the hilarious nuances of love in seemingly impossible, but extremely funny situations.   Joy Virata and Miguel Faustmann take on all four sets of characters, providing rollicking entertainment as they go through costume and character changes onstage.  Duets is directed by Ana Abad Santos. ‘Rent’ is back in Manila

‘Rent,’ the landmark Broadway musical that melded a rock sound with story and character like no other musical before it, is back in Manila! With its 5-year absence in Philippine theater, it’s creating a big buzz with its upcoming February 2010 run.

Created by the late lyricist-composer Jonathan Larson, ‘Rent’ swept all major theater awards of 1996 including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and Tony Awards.  So if you missed it before or have seen it and would like to experience the life-affirming musical all over, this is your chance!

‘Rent’ is produced by 9 Works Theatrical and will be directed by theater veteran, Robbie Guevarra. The talented cast includes Gian Magdangal as songwriter Roger Davis, with Fred Lo as filmmaker Mark Cohen and Nicole Laurel Asensio as dancer Mimi. Cara Barredo will also perform Mimi at certain performances.
