Moving in Circles

Quezon City is a melting pot of cuisines. Little did we know that there are still a few quaint places waiting to be uncovered on the side streets of Tomas Morato like the newly opened Cerchio (pronounced as ‘tzerhr.kyoh’) Restaurant and the Lounge located at Scout Limbaga Street. Seriously, you’d find yourself asking if you’re in some place else other than QC because it’s like you have entered a new dimension.

The Vibe: You’d be amazed how it (previously occupied by an old duplex) was converted into a hip and, retro restaurant with an ingenious design. The place defines what stylish dining is all about as evidently seen in sleek fixtures, innovative circular lamps, plush couches etc. It’s infused with a contemporary yet modern feel and as the main inspiration of the place, are circles (READ: Cerchio means Circle in Italian) dominating the whole interiors. Part owner slash interior designer extraordinaire Ivy Almario always loved the breezeway tile concept prevalent in the 50’s and decided to use the round tubes as wall partitions creating an airy, breezy and refreshing ambiance uniquely Cerchio’s.

The Cuisine: As Sandie Squillantini (one of the owners) would like to put it, “Cerchio serves a mixture of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, and we’d rather do away with the fusion concept and just stick with the basics.” Take pleasure in their fabulous entrees like the Singaporean Crispy Squid Heads (P180), Peri-Peri Chicken served with Rice Pilaf (P390), Bourbon Ribs served with corn and veggies (P590), Oven Baked Crispy Pata (P650), Grilled Salmon Teriyaki with grilled pineapple rice (P580). They’ll be launching some exciting pasta dishes soon. Aside from the food, Cerchio offers specially concocted coolers and cocktails like their signature drink Cool as Cucumber (P95), Claudia Americana (P120), Capt. Eddie Rocks (P120), Tom Collins (P150), Mustand Sally’s Vodka (P180).
