Jack Daniel’s The JD Set Philippines kicks off its much-awaited first live heat in Manila. This live showcase of pure rock n’ roll happened on February 4, 2011, Friday at B-Side, The Collective, Makati. After months of screening and preparation, Jack Daniel’s finally gives the stage to the thirteen bands that made it to the Jack Daniel’s The JD Set.

The Jack Daniel’s The JD Set features the most notable underground bands in the country, namely Black Manika, Blue Boy Bites Back, Cosmic Love, Freia, Fade into Oblivion, Jack VS the Crab, Kelevra, Mr. Bones & the Boneyard Circus, Paramita, Playphonics, Paranoid City, Stories of Now and Thy Holy Water.

All thirteen bands are set to give a show of a lifetime for the Jack Daniel’s The JD Set’s first live event. Each band will play quicksets or a maximum of two songs each. These quicksets are also meant to uncover which bands have the most powerful impact on their audience. The launch promises to be an electrifying night that will give new meaning to drinking Jack Daniels while watching live performances.

After the launch, the thirteen bands will then move forward to playing longer sets scheduled on four Fridays, February 18, March 14, March 18 and April 1, in chosen venues. Two nights will be allotted per band to determine their versatility from one gig to another. The bands will be judged on their ability to wow the crowd with their live act, original compositions as well as their dynamic stage synergy. During the live gigs, Jack Daniel’s will be asking the audience for their opinions regarding the band’s live performances.

The seven (7) ultimate bands chosen will be revealed in a grand event in April 2011. Awaiting these seven (7) bands is a seven-month-long tour that will expose them to a wider targeted audience.

The JD Set started in the United Kingdom and Australia, and has officially reached the Philippines. Historically, The JD Set has been known to support music through the years. The JD Set’s goal is to form bands that are undoubtedly the best in the scene. The JD Set also believes in maintaining a high standard in music. Jack Daniel’s gives its promise to help give the right exposure to bands to officially jumpstart their career, Jack Daniel’s style.

Jack Daniel’s in addition to the JD Set Philippines is also holding a raffle that will bring two people to watch Good Charlotte and Urban Dub live in Bali, Indonesia on April 21-13, 2011 for the Jack Daniel’s Music Festival. Each purchase of a bottle of Jack Daniel’s in participating outlets nationwide qualifies as an entry. Promo runs until March 2011. Grand draw is on April 2011.
