50 First Dates
Fifty bachelor and bachelorettes were invited to “DITCH or DATE Manila's Fabulous at 50 First Dates, A Speed Dating Party” held last April 4, Friday at Piedra Bistro. With welcome drinks and score cards in hand, 25 fine guys had the chance to chat with 25 equally fine ladies for 3 minutes until the cling of the glasses signaled the start of a totally new conversation with the girl next door. After over an hour of endless buzzing; the scores were tallied, matches were made, and eventually everyone went home happy. The winning couples went home with Spa Treats from Amezcua Wellness Centre, while the rest of the participants scored 25 new fabulous acquaintances.
Manila International Auto Show 2008: Imagination in Motion
The Manila International Auto Show’s annual pilgrimage of motoring aficionados and enthusiasts conducted its first ever Autospeed Custom and Classic Car Competition last April 3-6 at the World Trade Center. Major and minor prizes, and overall “Best of Show” were awarded as both amateur and professional shop owners and restorers vied for securing top marks in this year’s largest motoring event. Aside from promoting the formal automotive industry, the car competition aimed to advance and widen the scope of public automotive interest by promoting restoration shops and aftermarket establishments.
Gimme Some Lovin'
If there is something that the trendy and young Manila set love to do, it is to party hard and dance to wild and wicked music. And they did just that as Nokia Music and Bigfish presented Hed Kandi Back to Love. It was an evening filled with a whole lot of music loving as fashionable people dressed to nines in a glitzy glam event at the A. Venue Hall. And then there was the much-awaited performance of the popular Samantha James belting out her well loved hit, Rise. Truly, the Hed Kandi Back to Love concert was a night of musical and fashion connections.
Jäger UPRISING Bedroom DJ Spin Off
At long last, the wait is finally over! The finals of Jäger UPRISING culminated at Warehouse 135 and there was no excuse to miss the wicked beats played by up and coming DJs. Supporters of the finalists from different universities packed the club. Jägermeister generously provided the overflowing drinks to boost the energy of the guests. There were also games to unleash that wild, party animal side of the clubbers. The event was also broadcasted live over at 107.9 FM U Radio. The competition ushered Alex Wong of UST out of the bedroom and into the main room as he was proclaimed the top university DJ. Curv Entertainment’s premier DJs Erwin Edralin and Electrobrothers also spinned for the guests. Cheers to another chart topper night!
Afternoon Delight
A handful of tres chic people were invited to an afternoon of relaxation at the launch of the FreshLook One-Day Colored Contact Lenses held at Zuni, Greenbelt 5. And to further enhance the beauty of the models who donned the color variants at the launch, Shu Uemura’s team of makeup experts were also on-hand to help celebrate the arrival of FreshLook One-Day. It was also the venue that was chosen by the prestigious makeup group to introduce the newest member of Shu’s Rouge Unlimited family called Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine.
Skating For A Cause
Skateboard fanatics got the thrill of their life at the Skate To Educate, a charitable affair to help raise funds for the less fortunate. The presence of Phil-Am professional skateboarder Willy Santos was among the highlights of the event. A homegrown talent who hit it big in the international scene, Willy stunned Manila with his groundbreaking flips and tricks as he performed at the Bonifacio High Street, Global City. He auctioned boards and apparels from his own line.
Loving Mother Earth
Once again, green fashion has prevailed as Mother Nature advocates gathered together to hail the launch of Cinderella’s Work with Nature campaign, a notable venture with Bantay Kalikasan. The event, which was held at SM Megamall, also coincided with the unveiling of a photo exhibit featuring nature masterpieces at the La Mesa Eco Park. Likewise, a glimpse of Cinderella’s Summer Collection ’08 was revealed in a mini-fashion show featuring a hodgepodge collection of bright, light and comfy summer apparel.
