Ready, Chefs, Go!
January 5th, in Events, Others by Apryl GalangFor most individuals, achieving exposure marks a major breakthrough in building one’s career. For five years now, Meat and Livestock Australia has been providing this opportunity to a good number of student chefs in Korea and in Singapore via the MLA Young Chef Pencil Box Culinary Challenge.
MLA Pencil Box is a unique competition, which aims to encourage young student chefs to participate individually in a competitive environment using quality Australian Red Meat. Competitors have to create, cook and present within three (3) hours two (2) main course dishes: a Beef Main Course dish and a Lamb Main Course dish. The meat and ten (10) core ingredients provided at the beginning of the event must be incorporated in the dishes. General items such as oil, salt & pepper, etc. will be provided.
Now in the Philippines, in conjunction with the Chefs on Parade, the MLA Pencil Box will test the culinary prowess of these student chefs currently undertaking a culinary program from a recognized training institution, and with a maximum age of 23 years old on the day of the competition, set on February 11, 2011.
The Winner will receive a trophy, a gold medal with cash prize; while the 1st Runner-Up will get a silver medal with cash prize; and the 2nd runner up with get a bronze medal with cash prize. This is the first time the Pencil Box is happening in Manila – thus stakes are high on which institution can be the first to claim this much coveted student competition prize.
Deadline of submission of entries will be on January 15, 2011.
Contact Paul Perez of MLA Philippine Representative at 0908-8800280 or 638-5940 for more information on joining the 2011 MLA Young Pencil Box Culinary Challenge.
