URCC XVII Havoc

July 19th, in Events, Sports by Andrea Torres

This year, the Philippines has experienced great deal of monumental changes - automated election and new administration. Many Filipinos tried to stop these changes, but most of us believe it is for the better.

In the URCC, we also changed - from the usual two (2) Manila main events, we added another one. And, we know, this is for the better.

The earliest main event we had in Manila was the URCC XVI “Reckoning” in March, while the second one, URCC XVII “Havoc”, is just around the corner. July 24 is the date to be blocked off, and A.Venue Events Hall in Makati City is the place to flock to, to see the change in MMA landscape.

Havoc will feature one of the Philippines’ finest at what can be his hardest match yet. Undefeated Pinweight Champion Roy “The Punisher” Docyogen of Team Lakay Wushu is up against Saipan’s Team Haga T Jordan “Jungle Boy” Ogo. This is the first time Roy will defend his belt against a foreign opponent. Jordan is just 3-0 in MMA competition, but all of…

Join the Salomon Trail Running Clinics

July 6th, in Events, Sports by Andrea Torres

The Salomon Running Clinics is series of clinics where we will offer the participants a setting wherein lessons are tailor-made for them to learn the sport of trail running. We have experts who will give them all the knowledge they will need in order for them to ease themselves into the sport. From the basics to race preparation, they will learn from the best in the different fields in the sport. But it won’t stop there. After the talk, the participants will actually apply those skills on the trail. Held in different venues where the trail becomes more challenging every time (and the scenery better and better), we will be able to make them experience the excitement and the heaven that one feels when they’re running with nature. These clinics will help build the trail running community and eventually become a staple sport in the mind of the runner.

MODULE ONE: Introduction to Trail Running

Speaker: PSA LectureTeam

The Bottle School Run

June 1st, in Events, Sports by Apryl Galang

The work of social entrepreneurs is to use innovative solutions to society’s most pressing problems. This year, a critical agenda is when a million young school children’s education was disrupted and the loss of 2,800 pre-school classrooms to the typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.  Instead of a limited donor model, we would want to ask you to become the first to use the popular running activity to create an community based, people-empowered solution.

Together, we will be building the first soda PET bottle school in the country to replace and rebuild a damaged school in Taguig. Using a donation of two bottles with a 1.5 or 2-liter size of any soda brand, and your running fee, we will be able to use the bottles as hollow blocks and the money for materials and cement.

Enter The Bottle School Run, a sustainable and empowered system that can be replicated anywhere in the country, and we just need you to help us start.  If before you run for a singlets, for time, for a cause, then this time run for…
