Nawong

In “NAWONG” (Face), Florence Cinco reinterprets native mythological characters using traditional and contemporary forms and materials. The organic elements are made to clash with the scavenged industrial refuse in a way that heightens the sense of contradiction prevalent in our culture. The artist thus attempts to reconnect vague traces of our precolonial past with whatever native element that persists in the present. On view until May 11 at the CCP Bulwagang Fernando Amorsolo (Small Gallery).
