Repertory Philippines Unveils Titles for 2014

Theater goers, rejoice! An exciting 2014 awaits you with Repertory Philippines’ line-up for its 77th theater season!

waituntildarkWait Until Dark (Frederick Knott)
Genre: Thriller
Dates: January 17 - February 19, 2014
Directed by: Miguel Faustmann

Theater veteran Liesl Batucan will star as Susy, the blind wife of Sam Hendrix whose heroin-stuffed doll will cause a terrfying ordeal for Susy. This successful play was adapted into a movie in 1967 starring Audrey Hepburn (who earned an Academy Award nomination for her role of Susy), Alan Arkin, and Richard Crenna.

 

 

 

augustAugust: Osage County (Tracy Letts)
Genre: Black Comedy
Dates: February 21 – March 16, 2014
Directed by: Chris Millado

August: Osage County follows the Westons, a dysfunctional American family that has been put into greater test when its patriarch was found dead. Considered as one of the great new American dramas, this play has won Pulitzer Prize and five Tony Awards. It is also slated for a 2014 movie adaptation starring Hollywood heavyweights, Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and Ewan McGregor.

 

 

noises offNoises Off (Michael Frayn)
Genre: Farce
Awards: Laurence Olivier Award for Best Play
Dates: March 28 – April 27
Directed by: Miguel Faustmann

A play within a play, “Noises Off” starts in the middle of dress/tech rehearsal for a theater company tackling “Noises On,” an English sex farce in which two couples cross paths at a country manor. But that’s just the starting point, another layer of complexity is added by stopping the action to take up the love lives of the actors presenting the farce. A receipient of Laurence Olivier Award for Best Play, Noises Off promises to bring a good laugh for the audience.

The beloved story of Pinocchio, the wooden puppet who was brought to life by the Blue Fairy as a reward for the remarkably generous spirit of Pinocchio’s maker, Geppetto. But the best laid plans can sometimes go awry as Pinocchio’s boyish longings leads him away from his father and on an adventure unlike any other.

Genre: Family Musical
Date: November 21 – December 14, 2014
Directed by: Baby Barredo

Scrooge tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge (which will be played by Miguel Faustmann) a cold-hearted greedy man who forgot his hate for Christmas after receiving a visit from the spirit of the past Christmas, the spirit of the present Christmas, and the spirit of the present Christmas.
