Project: Super Moms

By Christina Alpad

At the time when people can tweet “Need to study” while cramming, when anyone can be citizen reporters and when everyone can become instant professional photographers; there comes super moms who advocate natural (and hands-on, I must say) method to parenting, who keep their careers and stay gorgeous with their equally attractive younglings in arms. One cannot deny these are the type of moms that single ladies out there aspire to become. But what does it take for a new mom to become ”super?”

This month, we bring you two TV personalities turned hot mommas, Amanda Griffin-Jacob and Bianca Araneta-Elizalde, fresh from the success of their first foray in book publishing, to spill the beans of how to handle motherhood while being at their best.

Here’s the background: Amanda is now happily married to David Jacob with two adorable sons (and almost twinsies) Keiran and Kalon. Follow her IG account: amandagriffin_j and be part of Amanda’s world but be prepared for cuteness overdose. While Bianca has been a prominent model and TV host before settling down with the love of her life, Juan Elizalde. She now enjoys a home with her mini princesses (Isabelli, Alessi and Siena). Be careful when following her IG account: biancaelizalde, as her superb photos will surely turn you green but no worries, everything’s for everyone to see.

21st Century Moms
Amanda: I think that they don’t have to choose anymore; it’s the huge advent of the work-at-home moms, of mompreneurs.
Bianca: Definitely more hands-on, compared to let’s say our moms’ generation. I think it’s also because of the advent of media and the abundance of information out there.

Shifting gears
Amanda: When I settled down and got married, I stopped working completely and moved to Hong Kong. I sort of downshifted and focused more on creating the family that I wanted.
Bianca: For me, motherhood changed my lifestyle dramatically. This is the time that I’ve got with them and I really want to spend as much time as I can.

All Zoned Out
Bianca’s Pink Territory: I used to tell myself that if God won’t give me a girl, I’d feel like I was cursed, I’d feel like I’ve done something so terribly wrong. So when He gave me three I was like, wow! I feel so blessed.
Amanda on the Blue Area: It’s crazy, it’s loud, it’s exhausting but i love it, I’m the queen of the boys.

Cuddlesome Moments
Amanda: The first time they say I love you, you know, I just can’t articulate the feeling. With every look that they give you, you just enjoy that because it’s not going to last forever!
Bianca: I know a lot of people don’t like the terrible twos but then they’re just so adorable at two, they’re like little people acting like they’re big.

Push the Pause button
Amanda: Have moments of me time, to decompress, and I feel a little better, cause sometimes you can get really caught up with everything.
Bianca: I try and run as often as I can, I work out, I do Zumba, Planaforma and TRX- it’s like one of those where they put cables and whatever and you use your own body weight for training.

Yin and Yang of Motherhood and Career
Amanda: I find it so hard to achieve that balance and a lot of women that I speak to have the same problem, I mean each facet of your life demands so much attention.
Bianca: I think one of the things you need to do is literally get your calendar and plot everything, stick to your schedule. That’s it!

Piece of Advice
Amanda: (Laughs) Motherhood definitely helps you understand your parents. Like, oh my gosh, I’m sorry for giving you hard a time.
Bianca: Enjoy being with your kids because I can’t imagine you loving every age of a teenager, right?
